January 19, 2007, Newsletter Issue #4: Boat Speed Control

Tip of the Week

A speed control is often referred to as an electric timing system because many speed control devices allow a boat to maintain a constant speed. Many boaters choose their boats based on the speed control options. Top performance boats often feature automatic speed controls that are simple to operate and perfect for both leisure boating and competition water sports. At the minimum, a boat should offer speed controls that allow the boat to be maneuvered in a forward position and in reverse. In many cases, a neutral setting on a boat's speed control will stop the boat from moving.
