Anyone moving a boat from one location to another should never assume that their motor vehicle can accomplish the task. Many cars simply cannot serve as towing vehicles. In general, smaller cars can work if a trailer is at or below 2,000 pounds. Additionally, a full-size, rear-wheel-drive car can serve as a towing vehicle in many situations. But, for larger loads you may need a sport utility vehicle or compact pick-up truck.
