The judges base their opinion on what they feel is the most important criteria to boat buyers for a particular category. For example, sportsboats and RIBs are measured by their performance, whereas comfortable interiors on steel and inland boats are more important. There is an entry process for the awards handed out by Powerboat Magazine. Winners are chosen after the magazine holds its Performance Trials and are evaluated independently by two teams.
